Proposal Title: Guerilla Memoirs, 03/31/2008, Mixed media

Proposal Synopsis: The prolonged war has done much damage to all parties involved- especially the rising number of civilian casualties in Iraq. This project is interested in how one can communicate such a staggering number of innocent lives lost within the last six years in any part of the world. By combining the mobility of guerrilla art and geometry of Islamic star patterns, the projects promotes a clustering form that adapts to any landscape or building and becomes larger with increased participants. The material will be recycled plastic with perpendicular connections and have engravings of traditional star patterns. The pieces are made with the intention of color modifications from owners. Anyone from anywhere can order any number from online and register their pieces on an online forum. From there, people can gather depending on location and connect each others' pieces to go on storefronts, yards, street benches, etc. The results are hoped to be various 'skin' formations that will be then photographed and submitted for an online gallery.
