Proposal Title: Wall Of Remembrance, 03/31/2008, Installation
Proposal Synopsis: The Wall of Remembrance will be a memorial to all civilian casualties in all wars, not just in Iraq. The wall will have inscriptions in several different languages that all say "To Remember Those Who Have Fallen..." The inner portion of the wall could hold biographies, pictures, and general information about civilians killed in wartime and could be changed to highlight different people from time to time. The construction of the wall, a dry-stacked stone, would allow visitors to leave messages, prayers, and comments showing support for these families. This approach has helped communities to heal after great tragedies such as September 11 in New York and the April 19 bombing in Oklahoma City. This memorial needs to be one without a political statement. Whether a person if for or against this war, the innocent loss of life is still present. This design will help heal those wounds and start a new chapter in this area.
