Proposal Title: Iraqi Civilian Memorial, 03/18/2008, Other
Proposal Synopsis: Polished black granite façade bearing engraved names in Arabic of all Iraqi civilian casualties of war and terrorism.
A solid wall structure with huge crack in the middle, erected in a desert highway, a surreal image, where mourners and visitors could pass thru it, view it, touch it, perhaps rub the names of loved once on a piece of paper, and maybe take a glimpse at the vivid archives inside the building.
This is a memorial for humanity, a shrine, a testament of savage past and brutal reality, a closure for the voiceless victims and healing point for the nation. A grim reminder to those who are willing to unleash violence in the name of freedom. They may crack the wall but not the spirit.
