Proposal Title: The Sweden-Iraq Memorial, 11/28/2007, Web Art
Proposal Synopsis: Sweden is one of the countries exporting most war materiel per capita. The flourishing export of missile systems and radar systems makes an important contribution to the Swedish economy and is readily supported by the Swedish government.
The war in Iraq hence has been very lucrative for Sweden and the Swedish export industry. Multinational companies like Saab and Ericsson have been making great profits by providing war materiel to the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq. Large numbers of Iraqi soldiers and civilians have been killed by Swedish weapons.
The Sweden-Iraq Memorial consists of a web page, where emails can be sent by anybody to key players in the Swedish weapon export, politicians and corporate executives. All letters will be saved on the web page. They will together compose a living memorial actively remind politicians and the public of the innocent war victims in Iraq.
The memorial will be launched online in the beginning of 2008.
