Proposal Title: Their shadows have been cast upon us. , 03/31/2008, Installation
Proposal Synopsis: They walked among us. They stood among us. Their shadows have been cast upon us. Throughout our lives we have walked past and stood with people who we never knew nor will ever know, never met nor will ever meet, but at some time our shadows fell across each other or onto each other. Walking through the memorial aims to recreate that experience, and acknowledge those shadows that were cast on us. Who were just like us civilians living that day with the hope that it was to be followed by many many many more.
Walking through the memorial one reflects on the civilians that have died. The equality in each of the pillars pronounces the fact that they were just like us equal and emphasizes how unfair the fate of their lives has been. When we the observers follow the length of the pillar from the bottom to the tip, ending in the stars or sky, we are left with hope that they have found peace.
The memorial is deliberately designed abstract in its place and character to create the similar experience and reflection wherever in the world we may be.
