Proposal Title: War on Terror?, 03/16/2008, Painting
Proposal Synopsis: War on Terror? is a 3 panel work measuring 5'H x 21'L and consists of acrylic on unstretched canvas. It primarily focuses on aerial bombing of civilians in Iraq with an emphasis on the deaths of women and children and the experience of those mourning over their dead. These 3 panels are easily portable and can be hung in a variety of settings. Artist's Biography: Holly Wong, b. 1971, North Miami Beach, FLA. Resides San Francisco, CA. BFA, 1993, and MFA, 1995: San Francisco Art Institute. Recipient of grants from the Barbara Deming Memorial fund, the George Sugarman Foundation, the Puffin Foundation, and a Gerbode Foundation purchase award. Holly is a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and has had over 50 group exhibitions, and 8 solo exhibitions. Future exhibits include a one person show at the Laredo Texas Center for the Arts, 2009, and a two person show at the Community College of Southern Nevada, 2008. Medium: paint, oil pastel and charcoal.
